While browsing the new arrivals pages of several plus size retailers, I had a shocking revelation: it’s fall. While we’ve been living in leggings and caught in the mayhem of the daily – and sometimes hourly – breaking news headlines, time has marched on. Although I’ve seen Halloween decorations on store shelves and received emails about pumpkin spice coffee flavors, it wasn’t until faux leather everything filled my screen that the date on the calendar finally registered. Fortunately, these four fall plus size trends won’t go stale while hanging in our closet.
Even though I remain skeptical that we’ll return to our regularly scheduled social lives at any point this year, some trends, like tall wide-calf boots, leather dresses, and leather pants will still sell out in the blink of an eye. Years of mourning the loss of the perfect swimsuit or wide-calf over-the-knee boots have taught me to browse often & buy fast. With very few exceptions, I haven’t worn anything but leggings, sweatpants, and t-shirts since March. Call me idealistic, but I believe that buying clothes during this time is a defiant act of hope.
It is with that hope that I share these four key fall plus size trends that resurface every season in the hopes that you’re as eager to get dressed as I am. Plus, you can rest easy that your investment has long-term potential since these items will feel just as fresh months (or years) from now thanks to fashion’s cyclical nature.
