Many, many years ago I worked at a Lancome counter in college. The things I learned about myself still hold true to this day: I can do one hell of an eyeshadow look, I’m terrified of blush, and when a woman tells you that she removes her makeup with mayonnaise you should do your best not to look visibly horrified. It’s also the place where I learned to fall in love with liquid eyeliner, turquoise kohl pencils, and the Absolue Hand Cream. Some things just never change.
It’s been many years since I’ve tried Lancome lipsticks, mostly because the strong signature fragrance brings memories of my days behind the counter. Last month a beautiful assortment of their matte lipsticks arrived and I’m pleased to report the fragrance is much less powerful than I remember. Several formulas were included, but Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Definition Le Magenta 388 has been a standout favorite. Not to be confused with the Absolu Rouge formula, L’Absolu Rouge Definition is a creamy, comfortable matte that is available in six saturated colors. In particular, shade 388 Le Magenta is a stunner! There’s a real depth to the color with a bright quality that is unmatched in my (extensive) collection.
Unfortunately, it appears that this shade has been discontinued, however other shades in this formula are still available.
