Florals For Spring? Groundbreaking.

I finally found the box containing all of my favorite clothes in my storage unit yesterday. Although this specific floral dress is new to me, via Gwynnie Bee, it looks much like almost everything I brought home. Five loads of laundry later, with all of my floral prints, blue, and chambray fabrics hanging to dry, I sensed a theme. Have I become that predictable?

In many ways, yes, my style is absolutely predictable (especially in the spring), but the clothing choices provided to plus size women have always been predictable. I’ve become so comfortable with wearing prints that when I was asked to bring “neutral tones” for a recent photoshoot, the best options I could scrounge up were grey, black, and chambray. Almost everything I own is either printed, bright, or black. As a size 28, much of my style wasn’t determined by choice until recently, but I absolutely chose to add this navy floral print dress from Single Dresses to my Gwynnie Bee closet.

Since I’m not entirely comfortable with my body at the moment, this faux wrap style doesn’t make me feel self-conscious due to its generous sizing. It’s the perfect silhouette if you’re fuller in the middle like I am, but if you’re smaller on top the faux wrap style might be too overwhelming. Since we’re still in the midst of unpredictable spring weather, I couldn’t help layering this dress with my denim jacket. I wear it with everything these days. Although I feel like the moment surrounding pins has peaked, I’ve been getting compliments around town on mine, and I love the personalized touch.
