This $5 Eyeshadow Is More Wearable Than You Think

When I was in high school, my best friend drove a lime green Volkswagen Beetle with purple glitter ying-yangs on the doors. Since she was basically the coolest person I’d ever met, she inspired me to love bold colors, especially chartreuse. As I became more adventurous with makeup, green remained a mainstay of the more adventurous part of my eyeshadow collection. Although I’ve naturally become more conservative with my makeup as I’ve grown older, I’ve always held a special place in my heart for green eyeshadows. From the moment I saw the Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Telepathy, it went on my wishlist

Colourpop Supershock Eyeshadow in Telepathy Swatch

Telepathy can appear from the most vivid of lime green to a more burnished golden green, depending on the light. Although many Super Shock Shadows are best applied with your fingers, I had no issue applying this color to my eyelid with a brush. This shade doesn’t take much finessing, either. After I used concealer as an eyeshadow primer and set it with the lightest shade in from the Kat Von D Shade & Light palette, I added Benefit’s Hoola bronzer to the crease with a large crease brush and along my lower lash line. I used my highlighter, MAC’s Hyper Real Glow highlighting palette in Flash + Awe for my brow bone & inner corner highlight. As much as I love experimenting with more intricate eyeshadow looks, bronzer in the crease + a shimmering shade across the lid is a foolproof combination.

Telepathy wasn’t my first chartreuse eyeshadow love and it certainly won’t be my last. I’ve long loved the NARS eyeshadow duo in Rated R, combining a satin vivid lime green and a vibrant cobalt blue, which also happens to be my favorite shade to pair with lighter greens. For even more intense color, check out Kat Von D’s Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Electric Warrior.
